A free trade agreement between Panama and Canada will come into force April 1 and will help generate exports, is that to say, to create jobs and prosperity in both countries.
Panama is currently one of the fastest-growing markets in Latin America and also it would be a strategic gateway to other latin countries, for Canada.
The agreement will eliminate tariffs on more than 90 percent of Canadian goods exported to Panama, in sectors like aerospace, pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, agriculture or agro-food.
Further, Panama has a five-year plan to invest in major infrastructure projects.
In these last six years, Canada has signed free trade deals with nine countries: Colombia, Honduras, Jordan, Panama, Peru and with the European countries : Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland (EFTA), and in the next years, Canada look for get new FTAs with the EU, India, Japan, and, also, the members of the TPP.
